YMCA Hampton Carnival
June 9 @ 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Hamptons’ Carnival is a hugely popular community event and has been taking place on Nursery Green, next to YMCA White House for over 35 years. The Hampton on Thames Community Association (HoTCA) was set up in 1978 to provide activities for local people and they kicked off this annual tradition with the very first carnival – and carnivals have been taking place ever since. This year the carnival celebrates HoTCA’s 40th anniversary and promises to be bigger and better than ever! (YMCA manages the White House community centre on behalf of the group). The 2018 carnival will have lots of local community groups, small businesses, local schools and charities getting involved to fundraise, promote awareness and generally have a good time!
The Hamptons’ Carnival celebrates the local areas of Hampton North, Hampton Hill and Nurserylands and is officially opened each year by the mayor. There are many stalls with lots of goodies for sale and family activities, plus events in the centre of the green like dance shows and martial arts exhibitions. Radio Jackie is on hand with it’s infamous roadshow to provide live commentary, interviews and great music. Whether you want to buy busy lizzies, home-made jam or delicious cakes or fancy your chances on a lucky dip or hook a duck, there’s something for everyone. There’s even a giant inflatable slide for the little ones and live music with the wonderful Middlesex Yeomanry Concert Band. Not to mention face painting, craft stalls and contemporary dance and music at Hampton Square.
The carnival continues inside YMCA White House, with an incredible model railway exhibition, an art exhibition and a fabulous barbecue in the garden, with refreshments in the café. So put the date in your diary and join us for a fun-packed family day on Saturday 9 June, 12pm-5pm at Nursery Green Park, next to YMCA White House, 45 The Avenue, Hampton TW12 3RN.
